Engineered Timber
The use of engineered defect free timber is standard practice across the Fyntons range. This multi-layer technology balances the stresses inherent within a natural product especially when natural moisture ingress occurs during wet weather. Finished machined sections are incredibly strong, stable and the risk of warping and twisting is significantly reduced.

Timber Species
Fyntons are passionate and committed to the use of timbers from reputable sustainable sources. We avoid the use of high risk tropical hardwoods and look for durable temperate substitutes from well managed sources in particular European / Scandinavian forests.

Our current engineered Timber options are:

       European Redwood
Tight grain softwood sourced from Finland and Russia

       Siberian Larch
Stable and strong characteristics sourced from Siberia

       Oak
Naturally Durable sourced from Europe and Canada

Paint / Stain Finish
All windows and doorsets are supplied fully factory finished using either opaque paints or translucent stains manufactured by Teknos one of Europes leading manufacturers of external joinery coatings. With an extensive palette of heritage, traditional and modern RAL colours all Fyntons products can be supplied single colour, dual colour or a combination of both a paint finish and stain finish.

Glazing
In order to meet and exceed security standards, all products are internally beaded to stop the removal of the glass unit from the outside. Beads are fitted using a silicone ‘wet bed’ system with concealed glazing pins.

Glass
24mm (4mm glass / 16mm spacer / 4mm glass) double glazed units are fitted as standard. In order to exceed thermal standards units are argon gas filled have a soft coat low ‘E’ energy saving coating and light grey warm edge spacer bars. Choice of clear or obscured glass either annealed, toughened or laminated with acoustic and sun control options available.

Compliance / CE Marking
On the 1 July 2013, the Construction Products Directive (CPD) became the Construction Products Regulations (CPR), making it compulsory for all glazed windows, external doorsets and patio doorsets to be CE marked. The CE mark is a guarantee for the consumer that the product in question complies with the essential requirements of the European harmonised standard EN 14351-1:2006 + A1:2010 and can therefore be legally placed on the market.

Fyntons have undertaken rigorous ‘hot box’ tests across our range in order to exceed the current CPR directives. These tests include thermal transmittance, air permeability, watertightness, resistance to wind load pressure, resistance to wind load deflection and acoustic values. Products are individually CE marked clearly stating the product performance.
